The Skeptics Society, which is 'Devoted to the Promotion of Science & Critical Thinking' is  headed by Michael Shermer,  Founding Publisher of Skeptic Magazine, media personality and best-selling author of books such as 'Why people believe weird things'. Under Shermer's leadership, the Society has become a strong force against crackpottery and fraud, and for the exploration of new ideas.
